Wrap you in love
Polotno-studio is a machine woven wrap company from Russia. They like to experiment with different kinds of cotton. They started with Pima and Supima cotton and are planning to use Egyptian and Sea Island cottons in the future. One of the first designs is called ‘Eagles’ and it’s an elegant pattern, which reminds me a little bit of the style of Diva Milano.
This colourway ‘Baikal’ is a beautiful grad with a vanilla colour on one side and light blue at the other rail. It’s a grad with stripes, just like you might have seen from Oscha.
The wrap doesn’t really have a top or bottom rail, I think you can wear it either with the blue side up or the light side up, but I prefer the blue side!
Even though the wrap is Peruvian Pima cotton & Supima cotton blend, it isn’t soft from the start. I know Peruvian Pima cotton from the Linuschka wraps and they are mostly soft from the start or soften up very quickly.
This wrap needs some wearing/ironing and it reminds me a little bit of Oscha linen on its way to be broken in. Strong, not very cushy, you can feel how the wrap is evolving and getting softer…
I think this wrap will make a great shorty. The weave is dense and very supportive. The wrap is on the thinner side of medium and will be great in hot temperatures.
Eagles Baikal needs a steam iron, it will be softer and more moldable after ironing. This wrap makes a small knot and has enough grip for a knotless finish.
The wrap has two small middlemarkers with the Polotno logo, easy to find when wrapping. I tested the wrap in a size 6, I’ve used it in a rucksack with a knotless tibetan finish and a double hammock.
I really liked it with the knotless finish. I prefer a bit more ‘cush’ on the shoulders, but it doesn’t dig at all. I think the design and grad look best in a rucksack carry.
This wrap is suitable for all experience levels, just don’t expect a cuddly soft wrap from the start. It won’t take ages to break in, especially with a heavier child it will soften up quickly.
Pick a short size, be brave, it will make a great summer shorty!
Every Polotno wrap will come with a pair of leg warmers, they are very cute and I’m hoping they will sell them separately too!
